Welcome to the Explore Your Shore! Seashore Splash! for Biodiversity Week 2020.

From 16th to the 24th May we are asking those who live by the sea and visit the shore to exercise within the travel limits allowed under government guidelines to record and photgraph as many marine species as possible and upload them for the National Biodiversity Data Centre’s Explore Your Shore! citizen science survey, funded by the EPA.

We will be sending out regular reminders via the National Biodiversity Data Centre Twitter account and our Explore Your Shore! Facebook account. You can check into this site daily to see how things are progressing in terms of total records recorded, total species recorded and which coastal county is leading the way in terms of marine biodiversity recording.

Don’t forget to share your Seashore Splash action pics on the Explore Your Shore! Facebook page.

And there’s a prize!! – two lucky recorders who submit records for our Seashore Splash! will win a copy of our brand new identification swatch on Ireland’s Marine Bivalve Shells (which will be available from the National Biodiversity Data Centre online shop very soon!).
