Rocky Shore and Rock Pools Biodiversity Walk and Talk with Shifting Tides

19 May 2024
13:30 - 15:30
Entrance to beach beside Bottle Banks Omeath Road near Carlingford
This event is expired.

Suitable for beginners aged 16 and above, attendees should assemble at the small rocky beach below the bottle banks on the Omeath Rd at 1.30pm, where you will be met by Dave Wall of the National Biodiversity Centre.

Expect to encounter rocky shores and rock-pools brimming with life and colour. Participants will learn about these habitats and the common features used to identify creatures. Further resources will be signposted, so attendees will be able to turn their sightings into hard scientific data.

Please note: as this is an outdoor session please have suitable clothing, sunscreen or raincoats, and good walking footwear are essential. Additionally, the steps down to the beach are in disrepair so a good level of mobility and taking care is needed as you go up and down.

Additional Activities: if you want to make a full day of exploring your shore you can join the beach clean being organised by Carlingford Tidy Towns starting at 11am on Carlingford beach and beach cleaners get some refreshments!
