Explore Your Shore! at Fanad Lighthouse

Join experts from The National Biodiversity Data Centre and The Sea Collective to ‘Explore Your Shore!‘

Set at the spectacular Fanad Lighthouse, this all-day event presents an opportunity to develop your knowledge about Ireland’s incredible marine biodiversity, and learn how to contribute to citizen science records.

The event comprises of indoor and outdoor workshops, with a light lunch and refreshments provided. Places are limited, so please book early!

Explore Your Shore! is a national survey of marine and coastal biodiversity to create a robust baseline dataset for intertidal plant and animal species in Ireland. Contributing to these surveys will help us better understand where and when marine species occur around our coast, and how they are being affected by climate change, water quality and other human impacts.

This biodiversity event has been supported by funding from Donegal County Council and Heritage Council through the County Biodiversity Action Plan programme.

It is part of National Biodiversity Week, which is organised by the Irish Environmental Network and funded by the National Parks and Wildlife Service. It is all about connecting people with nature and is made possible by the support of the Heritage Council’s network and the work of Irish Environmental Network member groups. Through a series of online and in-person events across Ireland, National Biodiversity Week motivates people to play their part in protecting nature.
