Seashore Splash!
Heritage Week: 15 - 23 August 2026
Welcome to the Explore Your Shore! Seashore Splash! for Heritage Week 2026.
From Saturday 15th to Sunday 23rd August we are asking everyone visiting the coast to help record and photograph as many marine species as you can, then upload your sightings to the National Biodiversity Data Centre’s Explore Your Shore! citizen science survey. Every observation counts and helps build a better picture of Ireland’s incredible coastal biodiversity.
Stay connected and follow the adventure! We’ll be sharing regular updates via the National Biodiversity Data Centre’s social media channels and the Explore Your Shore! Facebook page.
Be sure to check back here each day to track our progress. See how many records and species have been logged, discover which coastal county is leading the way in marine biodiversity recording and the total number of species recorded.
We also want YOU to share your daily photos with us via social media, while not forgetting to record via our web app or online recording form!
And there’s a prize!! – two lucky recorders who submit records for our Seashore Splash! will win a copy of our suite of 3 marine identification swatches (also available from the National Biodiversity Data Centre online shop!).
You can upload your records for our Seashore Splash! here
