Workshop on Surveying Whales & Dolphins at Sea

The National Biodiversity Data Centre and the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group are running a one day workshop in Cetacean Identification and Survey Methods for sea-going surveys.

Time: 10:30 – 16:30 

Audience: Beginner to intermediate recorders

Fee: €30 standard; €20 student

This one-day workshop will cover the theory and practice of conducting cetacean line-transect surveys on commercial ferries and research vessels and will include an introduction to the installation and use of IFAW Logger Software for collecting survey data. The course will also cover species identification and is suitable for beginners or those who want to refresh their skills. Please note that this course is entirely based indoors, but information on how to participate in future Irish Whale and Dolphin Group surveys will be given.
